Dentist in Richardson, TX: 'Won't Avoid Going Anymore' — Patient Review
If the thought of going to the dentist makes your heart race and your palms sweat, you're not alone. Many people carry dental anxiety well into adulthood, often stemming from past experiences or the fear of judgment. But what if finding the right dental team could completely change how you feel about dental care?
What Our Patient Had to Say
Here's what Jacklyn recently shared about her experience at Claassen Family and Cosmetic Dentistry:
"Preface: I do not like the dentist. I do not feel comfortable at the dentist. I'm afraid of the dentist AND their minions... they poke and prod and point out all your teeth cleaning failures... And I know that many people feel a similar way.
A month ago: I had realized I waited waaaay too long to take care of a cavity. I obviously did not brush and floss enough (I hang my head and jaw in shame). Food and junk was getting stuck between two molars and because... science... it formed into a heck of a cavity.
My coworker was getting annoyed listening to me complain about it. So she decided to pick up the phone and make me an appointment with a dental office she likes. I held in my tears and nervous pees the whole time she was talking on the phone, and my stomach sank as she confirmed the date and time and hung up (DUN DUN DUN). Now I had to go. Or disappear Gone Girl style (and I don't have the energy for all that).
I go.
I'm nervous. Kinda want to vomit. Have to pee ten times in the waiting room, alone. Sweat is forming on my brows as I can't remember the last time I waxed my mustache... Is my breath sour?... Is my blood pressure too high?... I obviously made some poor life choices...
But then. Caitlyn, at the front desk, reminded me I would do just fine.
Margarita, the assistant, made me laugh as she took my xrays and scans. And Dr. Claassen made me feel so comfortable. He explained everything he saw. Went through all the possibilities. Told me the why's of everything. His demeanor is calming and eased my nervous brain very quickly.
Current day: The root canal took two visits. The first one, I was still a bit nervous. But throughout all the grinding and suction and smells and metal instruments, I became more and more relaxed. Dr. Claassen knows what he's doing. Margarita and him work in tandem like they've been working together for ever. He would occasionally explain what he was seeing or doing. And every so often Margarita would make me giggle. (I also might have growled a few times)
I haven't been to a dentist that I liked since I was around 6 years old. I'll probably always be a little nervous at the dentist, because sharp objects in your face is scary, but now I won't avoid going when I have a problem. I won't avoid going for cleanings. I just don't need to worry about it so much anymore. Solely because of the humans at Claassen Dentistry.
So. If you're so nervous to go to the dentist, you might pee your pants. If you're so scared to be judged that you make your situation worse by avoiding. If you're afraid of not knowing what on earth they're doing to you in there.
Just go here. Your face will thank you." — Jacklyn
Jacklyn's experience highlights something many anxious patients discover: the right dental team makes all the difference. What started as a nerve-wracking visit for a root canal treatment became an experience defined by clear communication, genuine warmth, and a judgment-free approach that helped transform years of dental fear.
